More than 8,649 DO seniors (8,033) and graduates (616) participated in the 2024 National Resident Matching Program Main Match on March 15, with 7,705 matching into PGY-1 positions.
The NBOME applauds the extraordinary success of DO seniors who achieved a 92.3% match rate – the highest NRMP match rate on record.
DO seniors and graduates matched into a broad range of different specialties at institutions across the country.
“The NRMP is proud to deliver the results of another successful Main Residency Match, and we congratulate all future physicians and training programs on this momentous occasion,” says NRMP President and CEO Donna L. Lamb, DHSc, MBA, BSN. “We are especially proud of applicants this year, many of whom began medical school the fall before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and had to quickly adapt to and thrive in a radically changed academic and training landscape. Their experiences and success speak to a remarkable resilience and dedication they will carry with them into practice.”
Congratulations to all who matched or placed into positions in the NRMP match or the Match Week Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP), as well as other match programs (military, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, and urology) and best wishes for continued success on the Road to DO Licensure!
